Originally posted on the Eternal Darkness forums, ran from May 18th, 2007 -> about September 6th, 2007.
This story was written, in pieces, by our own members, whose names we will give you along with their character names.
Magical Rules: As far as magic goes, I think I forgot to mention that. Here's how it works: in this world, all demons are capable of mid-level magic. In the human world, only about 10% are capable of using magic at all, and then it's only basic spells such as weapon enhancements like Joker used (although to a much lesser extent, I'll allow it for Joker because he mentioned how rare the gems were and I didn't mention magic... however, you'll have to put some limit on their power. Maybe they can only be used once a day?) Anyway, about 10% of the magic users that can use basic spells (that is, about 1% of the total population) can use mid-level spells, like spells that could actually be used in a battle, such as shooting a blast of fire at an enemy, and then only after several years of training. And about 10% of them (that is, 0.1% of the total population) can use powerful, awe-inspiring spells that could defeat many enemies at a time, like causing an earthquake under the foe's feet, and these spells can only be used after many, many years of training.
Note that these numbers are in the best of circumstances... someone with the ability to use basic spells may not ever discover they can use them, and someone with the ability to use mid- or high-level spells may never get enough training. So in reality the amount of the population that can use magic is probably around: Basic: less than 5% Mid: Less than 0.3% High: Less than 0.01%
So basically, demons have the advantage that they can all use magic, while humans have the advantage that 0.1% of them can use the most powerful spells which no demon can use.
Unless you're one of those incredibly powerful mages, you should probably be supplemented with some sort of melee or range experience, because it takes a good deal of concentration to use even a mid-level spell, which will hurt but most likely not kill your opponent, and they won't give you the oppotunity to cast a second.
So from now on, anyone can create a basic mage, but do it pretty uncommonly. I don't want every character having magical talent. To create a mid-level mage, you must ask me. Don't even bother asking about high-level, because there is no way I will allow someone to reach high-level with a starting character. Also, if you've had a basic mage for a while, you can upgrade them to mid-level without my permission, but remember that this also must be pretty rare. If you have had a mid-level mage for a while, you must ask me to upgrade to high-level, but don't bother if your character is under 50 years old, as there's no way they could have gotten enough training by that time.
For those of you who have never played a text-based Role Playing game before, it's basically a bunch of people telling a story together. First, to ensure the quality of the story, some rules to posting in this story:
- You may have any number of characters, but they must have individual characteristics (names, skills, personalities, etc.) I don't want armies of 500 popping out of nowhere.
- Your character may not be overpowered to a god-like extent. This rule is subject to my decision- if I think a character is overpowered, I'm going to have you nerf him or her. If you want to have an incredibly powerful character, make sure you okay it with me first.
- No killing other player's characters without their permission. Fights between characters are perfectly fine (and, in fact, likely) but it's not fair for someone to have their character suddenly killed.
- When typing out of character (posts that are for communication between clan members and are not actually part of the story), place your comments in double parenthesis, like I'm doing now. You may have a post that is both in character (normal font) and out of character (double parenthesis) if needed. Posting OOC: (Out of Character) will also work.
- Double posts are allowed in this topic only as long as 24 hours have passed between posts.
- If a player quits the RPG or stops posting in the RPG for an extended period of time with no explantion and does not specify a clan member that is allowed to RP their characters, it is up to me what to do with them. I'm going to be lenient with this one. It's just that, in the past, I've seen many great RPGs die because a member that had a major character stopped posting. If you return, I'll almost certainly return your characters to you.
The land of Prisimia had always been a happy place. Peasants farmed under kind lords, the merchants were free to sell their goods when and where they chose, and the weather was fine almost every day. All of the kingdom's evils were sealed away in The Rift. Life was good.
That all changed when The Rift opened. Suddenly, demons crawled out of the earth and took over the northern part of the kingdom, forming it into the evil kingdom of Na'ar. The government of Prisimia was forced to restrict the trade of the merchants and force the peasants to produce more and more food. Men were constantly conscripted for an army in preparation for an all-out war.
Prisimia is now a place of warfare and oppression. Starvation and disease are a common sight, and many have been left homeless due to the ravages of the land. They live in constant fear of demon attacks, and always struggle to survive just one more day.
But it is futile, for they will surely die in the end.

OOC: I mainly wanted to try to get you guys interested in this again because for some reason, I'm really missing the old Harry Potter RPG forum I used to go on... For that reason and in their memory, I'm gonna RP in their style.
Lakster37: Sapient
Just as the majority of the population, Sapient was a simple, ordinary peasant; the keyword being WAS. These days he and the majority of Prisimia's dismal population take cover in the dense wooded areas, not daring to face the dreaded monsters that invaded their homeland.
:: Busy preparing the meager meal three berries, a small lump of meat which looked as though it had already been digested three or four times previously, and a single small potato into a meal that he could actually stomach, Sapient did not notice the small rustling in the bushes behind him. Perhaps it was the small fire that attracted the intruder, for although it wasn't even big enough to barbaque a rat, Sapient could not bear without the warmth of a crackling fire for much longer. Apparently the figure silently spying over Sapient felt the same way. The bushes rustled ever so softly once more, but the finally came to his senses. ::
"What's that! Who's there?" :: He shouted into the pitch black darkness, grabbing a makeshift spear as he did so. No one answered. ::
"Who's there I said!"

Kiba Tsume: Kiba
"Just me Kiba..Put down the spear no need to be violent!"
Jokerj2005: Tobias
Tobias is a young 15 year old boy. His parents were killed by deamons when he lived in the northan kingdom. Tobias was lucky enough to escape and found refuge in the lower kingdom. He desperatlly wants to have revenge on the deamons that killed his parents.
::Tobias was in the forest, hitting a small punchbag made by putting straw stuffed into an old brown farmers bag which used to be used to put potatoes in, hoisted into the air by a thick rope so that it dangled from a tall oak tree, he heard someone shout,:: "What's that? Who's there? ::He immediately jumped to the ground and lied there for a minute. He heard another voice,:: "Just me, Kiba... Put down the spear, no need to be violent." ::Kiba...Tobias thought, ...Kiba. Kiba was a man he saw sometimes in the fields working with that guy Sapient. Come to think about it, that voice that had called out before was the voice of Sapient. Tobias had sometimes joined them for their daily meal,::
"Sapient...Kiba... is that you?"
Lakster37: Sapient
"Kiba? Tobias? Thank the heavens, you can't take many chances nowadays..."
::Suddenly a distant sound could be heard in the distance. Almost less of a sound but more of a throbbing that reverbreted deep down inside of them all, instilling a silent sort of panic. Sapient looked from one to the other of the new arrivals and slowly walked towards the edge of his camp. ::
"That sound... that sound! It sounds like... marching... and army marching..."

Kiba Tsume: Kiba
"Well I have been bored lately.."
:: Kiba smiled at the others and took the large staff off of his back and twirled it around in the air ::
"What should we do about them?"
Jokerj2005: Tobias
:: Tobias pulled out his sword, a simple iron longsword, he had trained alot and was far to experienced to be using such a weak sword but he could not afford anything with more power but anyway he liked this sword and could do anything with it! but would it be able to defend him? ::
"Bring it!"
Kiba Tsume: Kiba
::Kiba swung his hand at the small campfire and the fire went out::
"Well Sapient are you coming?"
Lakster37: Sapient
:: With much apprehension on his face, Sapient scooped up his bag and traveling staff: a stick no thicker than a branch off a tree. ::
"I am and will be a peasant. Even if I don't have the weapons of a warrior, I will always fight like one to bring down this evil! ONWARDS!"
:: And with that, Sapient was the first to lead the charge down the hill towards the approaching enemy. ::
Kiba Tsume: Kiba
::Raises an eyebrow at Sapient as he runs down the hill and sighs::
"I figured we would wait a little longer..oh well!"
::Kiba throws his hood over his head and chases after Sapient::

Jokerj2005: Tobias
"Wait up! We don't know how many there are! There are three of us! Why are we running towards them? We should be running away! I have an iron longsword!! To defend myself, not to attack with it... if we were with more people and I had a better sword then maybe this would be a good idea but damn!"
:: The marching sounds were getting louder they had just reached the bottom of the hill and figured they had one more to climb over. Adrenaline was at a high as they were aproaching the top of the hill. When they reached the top of the hill they saw what they were up against... but it was not an army... it was three 11 foot fire trolls with fire raging from their head and from cracks in there body. One had a very big battle axe, one had an enormous mace and one had a spear measuring in at around 6 feet. ::
Tobais gulped "Kiba... get your water spells ready"
Kiba Tsume: Kiba
::Kiba reaches the top of the hill and sees the enormous trolls::
"Hmm..Sapient, I think you're going to need more than that stick..."
::As Kiba finishs the sentence he quickly casts a spell on the stick transforming it into a large blade that kept its old forms weight::
"Now about those trolls..."
::Kiba raises his staff and mutters somthing and the wind starts to pick up::
Jokerj2005: Tobias
"Thanks a lot Kiba, if you have not noticed I'm not doing too well on weapons either... wait! Hold on!"
:: Tobias pulled out a small rectangular box from his bag ::
"My father gave me these when i found him in the ruins of our house... he was almost dead... he said use them when i needed them"
Kiba and Sapient looked at Tobias with great condolences for this was the first they had heard of Tobias' parents... he had never shared with anyone his past or why he had come here. Tobias opened the box and reveled a small box of gems, the trolls now very close, Kiba and Sapient gasped. They were augumentaions, a full set, the most rarest type of gem's ever created. Mined by Dwarfs and forged by elves.
The wind coungerd by Kibas spell was now a strong gale, Tobias picked up a blue augumentation and placed it on the side of the blade on his sword, imediatly symbols were coming from the augumentation and floating around the blade then falling on to the blade glowing red and then black and all of a sudden a blinding blue light burst from the blade. The blade seemed to be growing then, what looked like water was circling around the now blue blade.
"now i'm ready!"

Lakster37: Sapient
:: Sapient looked down at his sword in disgust. Long ago he had vowed never to take up a blade... He threw it in the woods behind him and tore off a large branch from a dead oak tree. ::
"I prefer to use the Earth as my weapon."
:: He picked up a large stone and threw it towards the three huge creatures now running towards them. It hit one of them and he stumbled, tripping up his companions and buying Sapient and the others a few precious seconds. ::
"Let's go!"
Jokerj2005: Tobias
Tobias and the others were now meters away from the trolls, who were now starting to stand up. Tobias pulled his sword up and slashed the troll from his right sholder to his left knee and made a large gash in the fire trolls belly, but instead of blood, fire roared out of his stomach.
"Ah" Tobias said "this could be tricky"
Kiba Tsume: Kiba
::Kiba quickly turned his robes into armor and withdrew his two swords and ran down the hill with his friends::
"Here goes nothing!"
::Kiba ran at the troll and slashed his ankle but unaware of the fire that came out was slightly burned::
Lakster37: Sapient
:: Sapients saw his fellow's 'not-so successes' and suddenly got an idea, instead of slashing through the fiery giants, perhaps he could club them to death. He raised his stick and slammed it into the nearest one. The giant roared and caught Sapient's stick on fire, just nearly missing his head. ::
"Well, that didn't go as planned..."
Kiba Tsume: Kiba
::Kiba, being quite skilled with a bow and arrow sheated his swords and pulled the shortbow of his back and took an arrow out of his quiver and aimed for an eye on the troll. He quickly fired the arrow but missed::
"Drat!"
::He took out his swords again and ran at the toll swinging wildly::

Lakster37: Sapient
:: It is life and death situations like these that the best come out of people. When the fate of your entire life hangs on just a few split seconds. Now, Sapient was not known for being significantly gifted in the field of rembering, but suddenly a scene of year's past came to him.
It was a cold bitter night, just a few years before the hordes of demons came. He and his father and older brother were sitting around a large crackling fire, joking and laughing. Sapient and his brother, neither of which could be older than six years old, were having a grand time throwing anything they could get their hands on into the fire. Twigs, wet leaves, pine needles, small insects, pieces of wood bigger than their head; nothing escaped the young pyromaniacs. Sapient picked up a small pebble and was about to throw it in just like everything else, but his father suddenly stopped him. "Now son, rocks don't belong in the fire. Everything else will burn up, but rocks are different. The moisture inside them heat up until it has nothing left to do, but explode!"
Of course, he had tried it many times, he thought to himself, but either the fire had never quite been hot enough, or his father had just been pulling his leg. He hoped for the former...
:: With that memory fresh in his mind, he quickly gathered a small handful of rocks. Without a word to the others who were each battling a giant in turn, he hurtled a rock into the gaping wide mouths of each giant in turn. Unfortunately, nothing seemed to happen... ::
However, inside the bellies of the giants the temperature climbed to an almighty high temperature from the work of the fighting. It was not long before... Kaboooooooooooooom! The rocks exploded in the giant's stomach and they let out an almighty roar as rock shrapnel tore through their innards, destroying them from the inside out. They collapsed in a heap.
"Now, that's a story of David and Goliath if I've ever heard one!"
Kiba Tsume: Kiba
::Kiba ducked as he heard the explosion::
"Didnt think of it ending that way..."
::He sighed then sheathed his swords and put his robes back on and walked over to Sapient::
"So..Now what?"
Strabo9: Kathryn
:: Voice heard from the trees nearby:: "So now what?!?! I'm here minding my own business, playing with my pets, and you three come by and kill them?!! And now you want to know, 'Now what?'
I'll give you 'Now what?'
::Kiba is hit by something invisible on the top of his head, which makes him fall to the ground::
Kiba Tsume: Kiba
"What the.."
::Kiba falls to the ground::
Jokerj2005: Tobias
"Eh?" :: Tobias looked round and saw Kiba slump to the floor. Tobias began to walk over to Kiba until he had collapsed onto the floor and felt his energy drop! He had forgotten that after using augumentations the users' energy drops by a huge amount. He managed to stand up but felt dizzy and prefferd being on the ground. ::

Lakster37: Sapient
:: Seeing both of his comrades sprawled out on the cold bare earth, he looked up to where the sound came from. ::
"Your PETS!?! What would you do if three huge fire trolls came running at you, each with a weapon more deadly and sinister than the other? This is not a time that we should be fighting each other... or maybe you haven't noticed, the monsters are taking over our homeland!"
Hellfire010 Tribuo
Tribuo is a human/demon hybrid. His demonic half allows for basic magic. A skilled sniper (bow), Tribuo uses his limited magic to aid his sniping skills, such as concealment, eye-sight, and long range abilities. After birth, he was forced to watch his human mother slain by his demon father. As soon as Tribuo was old enough to escape, he did and has been on the run ever since, not accepted by either side.
:: Tribuo sat atop a small cliff, hidden by brush and a simple concealment charm. He watched over the humans below as they quarreled amongst themselves, and dared not make a sound. He knew, if spotted, he would be treated like any demon. ::
Kiba Tsume: Kiba
::Kiba slowly got to his feet and looked around::
"Ugh..Who hit me.."
::Kiba looked around then notices Kathryn::
"Your a new face..Who are you?"
Hellfire010: Tribou
:: Tribuo accidently hits a rock with his foot, sending the small pebble down the side of the cliff. ::
(whispering) "Son of a... I hope none of them heard that."
Jokerj2005 Tobias
:: Tobias gets up and looks at this woman who had given him a splitting headache then he heard a heard something hit the ground behind him. He turned to see what it was but saw nothing.
"Huh? What was that? Meh, it was probably nothing."
Strabo9: Kathryn
My name is Kathryn. Anything you would call a "friend" rarely lives long enough to call me anything more than once, so call me what you like. And as for you...
::Turns to Tobias::
...that was not "probably nothing" as you say, but a small rock falling from the top of that cliff, where there is a hybrid under a concealment charm. And you have no need to charge those silly augmentations again, for one you are too weakened...and two; the hybrid means us no harm, otherwise he'd have struck by now.
Now I am curious to know, why do you ::To Sapient:: assume that my trolls were "monsters"?
Hellfire010: Tribuo
:: Tribuo dispells the concealment charm and stands up. He cautiously approaches the group, but remains at a distance. He pulls his black hood over his face, as if to hide it. With a single arrow drawn, just in case, he continues to greet those before him. ::
"Err, hello."

Strabo9: Biography of Character:
Kathryn Age - Age'd. 40-50; though extremely spry, and young looking, much like she stopped aging in her 20s.
Race - Human.
Special Abilities - While once an advanced mage, Kathryn now cannot perform any spells, even basic ones. This is due to the spell of an advanced mage of an earlier time, now dead. While Kathryn cannot perform spells herself, she is very learned in the art of magic, can recognize when it's presence is...well present...and can teach it to others (though not by example). * This is how Tribuo's concealment charm was so easily discovered. Other than this magical inability Kathryn has a knack for making friends with the damned / doomed / otherwise not-well-off. She has, since the death of her parents, and later, her brother, wandered alone throughout the land, making "pets" of many animals/monsters. This ability to befriend monsters comes from an (at some points) excessively level-headed mind, and a rather un-imposing demeanor.
Normal Traits - Frosty blue eyes, sleek black hair (which falls to the lower back), tall (around 5' 9"), thin (no greater than 125 lbs.), reasonably built (well toned muscles, by no means out-of-shape).
Nuvonic: Frye
The wind sweeps over a charred landscape. The trees here are all burnt and dead, and there appears to be no life. The remains of a town, destroyed so long ago, still smoke as the fires created by the demons have still not gone out. It is likely they will never go out, as Riftfire can not be extinguished except by magic and the last sorcerers fled this land years ago.
This is Na'ar.
As bad as life is for those living in Prismia, in Na'ar it is much, much worse. This is quite literally a living hell. Those few humans left alive here only just managed to escape detection by those who destroyed their village, which means they saw their entire families tortured and killed. There is almost no food to be found here; nothing will grow in the charred ground and the demons killed off almost all the animals long ago, forcing the few remaining humans to resort to crime and cannibalism. This would disgust most humans, but to these it matters not; their souls have been broken, their minds irreperably damaged. They will not travel in groups, for not only would they be noticed by the demons, but they would kill and eat each other. They try to move south as much as they can, but they know it is no use; their frail, starving bodies can not hope to keep up with the constantly advancing demon army. Those living in Prismia still hope that they may be able to fend off the demons and live their lives normally; for those living in Na'ar, it is no longer a matter of if they will die, but when.
A small rat crawled quickly over the floor of one of the charred buildings, searching for food. They wood still burnt its feet, but it did not matter; if it could not find food, it would be dead soon anyway.
Suddenly a trapdoor opened in the floor, crushing the rat against the wall. At first all that could be seen was an arrowhead, then a red feather poked out of the whole, followed but a torn hat, dirty, unkempt brown hair, and finally a pair of eyes. Seeing no demons, the man crawled out of the whole. His clothes were torn and very loose; he was nearly as emanciated as the rat. After closing the trapdoor, he noticed the rat's body, bleeding and broken against the wall. "Shame," he said, and then ate it.
Lakster37: Sapient
:: Sapient jumps slightly as Tribuo appears out of thin air. He saw the reasoning in Kathryn's statement, but still, he didn't like the look of that drawn arrow. ::
"Er... hello."
Hellfire010: Tribuo
"For goodness-sake I won't hurt you all. I just had this in case you decided to attack me..."
:: Tribuo replaces the arrow in here quiver and lowers the bow. ::
"So, if you don't mind my company, I'd like to stay. I've been alone for years, and quite frankly it gets rather lonely. Besides, I'm half human too."
Strabo9: Kathryn
"This seems to be a growing party...but where exactly are you all headed?
So far the only thing I can determine is that if you go around killing everything you see, you'll shortly be rivaling the demons ravaging the north. However, should you be creating a 'revolution' of sorts, I would gladly lend my services and knowledge. A man with a mediocre hold on magical ability, one who uses the land rather than a large weapon, and a younger man with gems that contain power he has no idea about. And of course, the newest member, a demon hybrid...with...from the feeling of it, a basic grasp of concealment, but not much else.
By the way you attacked those fire trolls, you'll have no chance against demons. You'll all be dead before you figure out how to kill them. You on the other hand ::To Tribuo:: may have some potential as a marksman, I'd have to see."

Hellfire010: Tribuo
"So its a slow start. I, personally, want to seek revenge on the evil demons. And I am a skilled markman, thank you very much!"
:: Tribuo seemed to fit right in with the motley group while defending their yet-unknown cause from Kathryn's criticing. ::
"We will grow stronger, and will grow in numbers along the way."
Strabo9: Kathryn
"I do not doubt your cause, nor your will to fight for it...
However, in your current conditions, you are quite far from achieving your goals. ::To Tribuo:: I suspect that you are indeed good with a bow, but I have come to realize that most people are untrustworthy, and at some points will exaggerate their abilities, so do not be put off should I show a skepticism towards your ability. It is the nature of this land it seems, deceit. I regret that I have had first hand experience with such, but my experiences have taught me well. Rarely are my first observations as accurate as I would like. *Momentarily voice falters*
Hopefully, you shall not be as disappointing as my first impressions of you have so far shown...that is, if I will be accompanying you. It certainly seems like my company would benefit this group."
Dafnier: Itzal
Itzal was a shadow demonn from the 4th level of Hell. He was fed up with his father torchering souls and decided to lead a life helping others with his demonic powers. He could change any physical objects, and even people (any species), into shadows so they could move silently undetected by anyone even the most powerful sorcery. The only item that could pull him out of the shadow world are the shadow gauntlets of Pontus.
::Itzal watched from the treetops, he could see there humaniod bodies talking to each other after the vicious battle had taken place. Little did they know he was watching them and secretly helped them during the battle banishing the minds of the trolls so they could get in and finsh them off. He felt proud of his work, but decided to keep folowing them, eventually revealing himself when the time was right.::
Hellfire010: Tribuo "Heh... Maybe you shouldn't be so quick to judge or misjudge. But, if its proof you want, you shall have it - that is, when the opportunity presents itself."
:: Tribuo looks into horizon as the sun slowly sets. The sky seems to glisten with red and orange. Yet, smoke blotches the sky in several areas, marking demon strikes across the country-side. ::
"Best not to debate, however. We have a long journy ahead of us, and we will get stronger. No matter how far we get, we will have some impact on our enemy."
Lakster37: Sapient
:: Sapient listened closely as his companions discuss and argue amongst each other but did not wish to get involved himself. He laughed to himself at their foolish arguing, trying to banish the demons in this land with might and power. There was only one true way to take down a demon, his mother had shown him that.
"I say we can work out the details later, now, we must move."
Hellfire010: Tribuo
" Agreed. "

Dafnier: Itzal
:: Itzal looked down at them, perhaps he should stay at ground level and maybe scout ahead to see if there was anything else along the path. He dropped down from the trees and landed with a nearly soundless thud. Those who heard it though would only see a shadow of a person who was not there and before they knew it he would be gone. Itzal noticed the demon hybrid, "Hmm" He thought to himself, he had seen him fight and wondered if the demons keen eyesight could see his physical body even though no one else could. "Lets test this out." he said to himself, as he walked infront of the demon.
Hellfire010: Tribuo
:: Tribuo, walked along with his hope-to-be comrads, suddenly a slight blur appeared in front of him.
"What was that?"
Everyone turned and gave him an odd look, but rather ignored it. Tribuo, having a keen demon sense of sight as well as being a master of concealment know he had seen SOMETHING. But what was it? Definitely humanoid. Tribuo gave anoher quick look around then shrugged it off temporarily. ::
Jokerj2005: Tobias
"What's wrong? Do you see something?"
Hellfire010: Tribuo
" Something... "
:: Tribuo looks around again. Then *WHACK* the object ran into Tribuo. ::
" AGH! " :: Tribuo gasped loudly ::
" Now I know there is something here! "
:: Tribuo takes out a medium-sized pouch and sticks his hand into it. He retrieves and handful of what appears to be sand. ::
" Watch this, Kathryn. "
:: Tribuo throws the powdery substance upwards and it floods the air. However, it did not cover the space occupied by the object - which stuck out like a sillouette. ::
" There! "
Dafnier Itzal
:It looks like i should reveal myself now."
::The group of humanoids looked at the spot where the had blown the dust as he appeared infront of them::
"Hello, my name is Itzal, a shadow demon, son of the devil, is it okay if I join you on your journey?"
Strabo9: Kathryn
" Ah, that explains it. Your method of concealment is entirely demonic is it not? As I can only sense magical power being used, and not demonic, you would have remained hidden, were it not for Tribuo here. Now, regardless of whether or not you'll be joining us, as it has been suggested many times previous, let us move in one direction or the other, as here we are likely to be found by all manner of interesting beasts, and even more likely to find a brethren of this fellow here. "
Nuvonic: Frye
Taking one last look around to ensure there were no demons, Frye walked to the door and opened it. This was quite pointless, as there was little left around the door but its frame. Looking around, he spotted a red feather poking out of the wreckage. He dragged some of the debris away to reveal a dead body with more bones showing than flesh. Like the ruins around him, he was still smoking from burns several days old. Frye looked at the body with pity, then quickly scooped all its belongings into his own bag. The last thing he took was the red feather, which he carefully removed from the remnants of the man's hat and gingerly placed in his bag. He then went to search for more bodies.
Hellfire010: Tribuo
:: Tribuo aims his bow directly at the demon. For the first time in his life he was accepted, and by humans. He wasn't so sure a demon would act the same way, but he wasn't going to jump to conclusions - just stay prepared. The two demons' eyes met, acknowledging each other's demon-ness. Tensions were high, as this individual was a full-demon. Tribuo decides to wait for the others to make up their minds before advertising his opinion. ::

Strabo9: Kathryn
" Tribuo, hold your fire. Itzal has expressed interest in joining this... journey, as he put it. However, if we remain here, this will be the end of our journey, it's growing dark, demons that would not have bothered to reveal themselves will surely find us if we remain here!
In the interest of keeping all of you alive, I highly suggest we move along.
::To Itzal:: More than slightly menacingly
While this may be a seemingly empty threat to you demon, should you find to be untrustworthy, I will make sure that you suffer for anything that happens to this party. Join us if you wish. Just so long as we get moving! "
Lakster37: Sapient
:: The party, finally finished going on and on with long monologues, new members arriving, and the occasional untrustworthly glance between two or three of them, finally set off. They headed into the woods and once they thought they were in deep enough to not be easily spotted, they stopped to set up a makeshift sort of camp and lit a small fire, just small enough to keep them from freezing. ::
"So... you guys know any campfire songs?"
:: Sapient smiled, trying to keep the situation less strained. ::
Dragune: Dragune
Race: Pure blood Demon Age: Never counted
Dragune is a Demonic leader of a small army granted from the Great Splitter. He stands tall at a staggering 6'10" height carries a bow on his back made of enchanted rib bones to bend better than any man made bow, and a 4 foot long curved blade that hangs at his left side. He does not carry a shield nor any armour but only a long red cloak with a hood. His magical abilitys do not stretch past changing materials into other materials as he did not see it fit to use magic in a battle to the death. His small army of 10 demons are strong but are completely incompetent at anything aside from fighting. Having recently slain a kingdom of Lords and Peasants, now sits in the small castle marveling in his military prowess. However, he sees himself as the new leader of the Demons and works towards overthrowing the Great Splitter. His overconfidence will be his downfall unless he can prove himself and gather more into his army of skilled fighters.
"You let him get away!?!!?", to his army of 10, who stood before him in the throne room of the recently fallen castle.
"If I have to do one more thing by myself you 10 will be nice additions to a pile of human skulls.
Hellfire010: Tribuo
:: As soon as camp was set up, and he did his part, Tribuo vanished from the site. Noone seemed to notice his abrupt disappearance, so he continued into the forest unnoticed. ::
" Time to catch some dinner. "
:: Tribuo knew his semi-demonic appetite would not settle well with the humans. Tribuo broke into a graceful, yet fierce, sprint. He spotted what looked like a young hellhound. Hellhounds are common in these parts ever since the demons invaded. Tribuo hid behind some brush and waited for the perfect oppurtunity. He drew his bow, and whispered a simple charm under his breath. He sensed the arrow's head charge with energy. Finally, the hellhound looked up in his direction. Tribuo released the arrow. It combusted as it flew through the air, hitting its mark perfectly. The hellhound fell over, a single arrow extending from its forehead. Tribuo knelt over the body and began to eat. ::

Strabo9: Kathryn
::Camp having been set up, a small fire now heating the small area, and Tribuo gone off to...hunt::
" Though I'm sure that you would greatly prefer my company here on the ground, I prefer to sleep alone. This being so, I shall see you all in the morning, at which time we will no doubt find a destination for this motley gathering. "
:: With such, Kathryn turned from the fire, and walked into the darkness of the forest. She stopped just outside the fire-light, jumping with a gymnast's skill into a nearby oak. This is where she would spend the night, on a branch of oak, halfway up the sturdy appendage of nature.
Taking from around her neck, a strand of silver chain ending in an even smaller bit of silver formed into the shape of a magical symbol and running with [miniscual] tiny veins of sapphire blue. ::
Speaking to the symbol
" This time it will not be the same. I will not allow these to fail the same way we did then. You won't let them fail either. I have faith, brother, we shall not fail again. "
::With this, Kathryn replaces the symbol, closing her eyes, and drifts slowly into a very light, but restoring sleep.::
Kiba Tsume: Kiba
::Kiba sat next to a tree and started to go in and out of sleep::
"Meh..tired."
::After a few minutes when no one was watching an assassin came down from a rope out of the tree and quietly killed kiba there was a soft noise when this was done but as soon as the action took place the assassin went into his hiding place..likely to be filled with more assassin type ninja things::
Hellfire010: Tribuo
:: As tribuo finished eating, he felt a slight breeze blow through the forest. He slowly got to his feet and climbed a tree. He sat on the long, thick branch and watched the sky for a while. The sky was clear, stars easily visible. The crimson glow of the demonic rift blended with a sky in a way that was beautiful, despite its aparent evil.
Tribuo moved his glance downward, upon two squirls quarreling in the brush. They both had their paws gripped around a large nut, probably the only one either of them could find. Tribuo raised a hand, and extended his index and middle fingers, the swooped them down in a cutting motion. The nut suddenly cracked in two, and the squirrels took their halves happily. Tribuo redirected his gaze into the night sky, then shut his eyes for a short time. ::
Dafnier: Itzal
::Sitting in the trees Itzal watches the sun rise and looked down at the camp fire. He noticed something was wrong with the only person around the fire (besides sapient). He glided down the side of the tree and landed next to the body.::
"Some one come quick!"
::He checked the man's pulse but it was obvious he had been dead for at least 4 hours.::
"Aw sh*t. Tribuo where are you?"
Hellfire010:Tribuo[/b]
:: Suddenly, Tribuo's demonic sense of smell made his nose twitch slightly. He smelled something foul, something evil. He quickly stretched, then leaped from the branch and started to sprint back to the campfire. The feeling of danger engulfed Tribuo. He knew something was wrong.
He walked into the clearing and saw Itzal leaning over Kiba's body, checking his pulse. Tribuo approached... ::
" What happened? Is he d- "
Dafnier: Itzal
::Itzal looked up at Tribuo::
"Yes, dead...I should've sensed it, I was only 100 feet above him in the tree."
::Itzal looks around::
"I wonder who killed him.."
Lakster37: Sapient
'Everyone seemed to underestimate him' :: Sapient thought to himself. :: 'He would show them, yes, he would not be pushed around...' :: A new found power surged through his body with his rage.
Sometime during the night, he heard Kiba's life ebb away from his body; he knew his assasin had found it's mark. He smiled to himself, with an evil sort of gleam in his eyes. ::
Dragune: Dragune
Leaving the ruins of the castle and his small army of 10 behind to "guard" it, he starts off tracking the first to get away from his might. The villagers call him Frye, captured and tortured for a little under a week, he kept his mouth shut of all information, It seemed nothing would force him to betray his country. Not knowing where Frye had gone Dragune starts searching through the rubble of a torn city. Now no fire remained, only smouldering ash and charcoal.
Searching through house by house he finds a small trap door. Left open it did not seem right, drawing his blade he slumps down the ladder and silently creeps along the passageway. Soon he reaches another ladder, quickly clambers up nearly hitting his head on the top he opens the door and peeks his head out.
*Clunk*
One of his men was standing guard and heard the noise. Seeing the trapdoor open he prepared himself to strike with his club. To his dismay the first hit did not kill, or even bother for that matter as he was sliced in two in an instant with a look of triumph on his face. Seems he was not triumphant.

Hellfire010: Vita
:: Arrows zipped past from every direction. Explosions of mage-matter shook the air. Everything happened as if it was a dream. Vita swung her blade as if it was an extension of her arm. It clashed with metal and flesh alike, in a nonstop harmony of motion. The focus changed to a single arrow as it was released by a demon's bow. It flew through the air, guided by a pseudo-magic force. It hit its mark. A young man fell the the ground, and bled. His blood, however, was not that of a human, nor that of a demon. It was a mixture. It had a slight crimson tint, but was still dark as night. As it stained the ground, it also burned it like an acid. Vita let out a cry of anger so tremendous it caused fighting to halt for a moment. Then, all resumed ... except for Vita. She kneeled beside her fallen comrad, and kissed him gently on the forehead. A tear fell from the tip of her nose... ::
Tribuo
:: Tribuo flinched, stunned by the sudden vision. He didn't understand what had just happened. He soon noticed those around him were staring at him. He pretended to ignore it, but could not. ::
" WHAT? "

Strabo9:Kathryn
:: Kathryn could only watch from the oak in which she had spent the night as the event unfolded below her. Kiba was dead, there was no avoiding this fact. The only one of the group which she could have guided, taught, was no more. True, Kiba had not possessed great ability, her teachings would likely have put extreme strain on him. But still, she would have served her purpose had he lived. Now was not the time to regret his passing though, death was a spectre which the demons knew well, (this myth only reinforced by the fact Itzal had found the body) and could sense from miles, and she had already let precious time creep away as she silently cursed Kiba and his passing. If they were to survive now, they would have to move, and quickly ::
"Itzal, we've no time to wonder. Even from Na'ar your brethren may feel the passing of this one. We must travel. I fear we may not even have time enough as it is. Sapient, extinguish the remains of the fire, and Tribuo: I pray that you are skilled enough a mage to perform the spell I'm to show you now. We must conceal the proof of our being here, if even to give us a half day headstart on the demons no doubt to find the body."
Hellfire010:Tribuo
" But of course. I am a master of concealment, afterall. "
:: Tribuo muttered a few undecipherable words under his breath. The surrounding forest came alive to aid in his spell. Leaves blew over the camp; twigs and sticks threw themselves randomly on the ground. Dirt spread itself over everything, leaving only dust to flood the air. The camp was now nothing more than another piece of the forest. The area held nothing out of the ordinary - at least, to those not fluent in the ways of magic. There was still a stench of magic present in the area. Tribuo grinned, as he knew his next spell would shock even Kathryn, a master of her art.
Tribuo thrusted his right hand forward and a dark energy quickly pulsed from his hand. He knew everyone felt it. Birds quickly flew out from the trees. Animals scurried away. His companions flinched. And then, all of that magical energy that was left from his spell seemed to vanish. It would only be detectable by the most powerful of demons, and possibly a select few human wizards or mages. ::
" Alright, let's go. "
Strabo9:Kathryn :: Silently, and to herself, Kathryn notes that Tribuo performed her spell exactly as she had instructed, though he had used much magic to perform it. However, Tribuo did prove himself to her as learn'd in concealment with his next spell. Perhaps her search for a new student would not take long at all. Though she had not expected him to know such advanced methods of concealment, she did not let this fact show. She was a master of many things, her emotions, and the expression of said emotions included. Though not expressed, deep within her she was pleased with the spells. ::
"Lets hope that will be enough. Move with haste company, this concealment will do us no good if we're still here when demons arrive!"
:: And so the party left the site of Kiba's passing, only murmuring a faint goodbye, or the hastened glance. Kathryn was the last to leave the camp, and as she slipped into the bushes to follow the party she noticed a rustle of undergrowth. She froze, hiding in the shadow of a large tree, but she heard nothing for many more minutes. Finally, dismissing the sound for a bird, or other creature of the forest, she silently sprang from her hiding spot, to the branches of the trees where she rejoined her party, and they resumed course from the clearing. As she leaped from branch to branch, two small brown rodents with large tails peaked out from beneath a leaf at the still frame of a fallen man. ::
Rebelofdeath:Ralisk
Ralisk is.. well, he's a unique one. He comes from the gates linking the 8th and 9th circles of Hell. But, he's somehow retained a human appearance. It was assumed he was demonic by those he grew up with, but no one really knew nor cared. He doesn't have any present knowledge of using magic, but the methods he used to appear in the world are questionable. He is armed with but a single blade, the size of his arm and a bit longer, engraved with ancient runic symbols, and a single arrow, similarly decorated, but came without a bow to launch it. He still keeps the arrow as a sort of good luck charm.
:: The face of the mountain began to simmer, as if melting from volcanic stored away within it. A circular area began to burn and smoke wildly. The rock face then dispersed into flames, and burnt to ash as it fell. Ralisk took his first step from behind the rock wall, and was startled to find that he was a good deal above the ground. He then fell to the ground with a resounding boom, clearly giving away his location as even the trees and bushes shook from the impact. ::
"I MEANT TO DO THAT!"
:: He yelled mainly to himself but also in case someone nearby saw his fall. ::
Dragune:DRAGUNE
::Mumbling to himself about the incompetence of his army of now 9 Dragune begins back through the trap door. He did not have much experience in hunting down his prey, as he would usually have the element of surprise with him.::
Setting off into the darkness he stumbled through the wrecked city into the wilderness where Frye surely would have ran to.
RebelofdeathRalisk
:: Ralisk pulled himself up from the ground after his abrupt and rather rough fall. Patting the dirt off of the robes he was wearing, he glanced up to see just how far he fell and was surprised to see he fell a good six meters. After a rethinking his calculations, he slapped his face with his hand at his mistake. He turned to the forest in front of him and walked into the maze of wood and leaf. ::
Jokerj2005:Tobias
:: Tobias has been keeping quiet, watching as each event happened. He didn't understand how these people were so calm. It was as if the 3 fire trolls where nothing, and all of a sudden random people coming out of different places. Kiba's assasination had been a huge blow to the group but how had everyone been so calm? Tobias was only 16 years of age. He knew of all the goings on but once his village and parents had been savagly torn apart his life was turned upside down and here he was a young teenager with a group of strangers. He didn't know who to trust he had just met these people. How, he thought, would he survive?::
Lakster37:Sapient
:: Sapient was especially mournful at the death of Kiba, he had known him since childhood. He decided that he should take Kiba's deadly Battle Staff. It was his most prized possesion, and Sapient knew that Kiba wouldn't have wanted it left for the Demons to discover. Knowing he could never make anything useful come of it, he nevertheless took up his friend's staff, discarding his old walking stick.
As they walked along through the forest, Sapient occasionally glanced at the staff in his hand, a silent tear running down his cheek. The present hell the world had become had made Sapient used to death, but he could still feel sadness. ::
'I suppose that's good' he thought to himself. 'I'm still human...'
RebelofdeathRalisk
:: Walking through the confusing puzzle of the wooden towers, Ralisk thought he heard the voice of a young human. Having never seen nor heard a human before, he approached the sound with curiosity. ::
Strabo9:Kathryn
:: Kathryn watched in silence as the group walked slowly, somberly, through the forest. Sapient was, naturally, taking Kiba's death hard. They had grown up together evidently, and so Kiba's passing would no doubt remain with him. Tobias was also responding with sadness, for one so young he was strong though. For one so young he had taken up company with demons, a hybrid, and herself... the company of which: was not the place for a youth of sixteen. But, so were the circumstances. Though not ideal, this journey would surely toughen Tobias. She knew only too well that it would be difficult, seemingly too difficult, but Tobias had an advantage that she had not: the advantage that came from experience; her own experience, and that which the other members of the group could provide. Tobias would turn out alright, she would see to it. ::
From her position at the rear of the group, Kathryn sprang suddenly to a tree branch above Tribuo, point of the group, and dropped next to him, matching his stride.
"We should break here. The distance we have traveled should be enough of a barrier. We'll set up camp again. This time we watch though. Pick one of the humans to pair with, have Itzal do the same, watch each others' backs. I'll keep overall watch from above. Nothing like before."
